Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

What Does Intense Pulsed Light Treat?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is also referred to as a photo facial. IPL corrects skin imperfections on the face, chest, neck and other body areas. Conditions treated include sun damage, redness, rosacea, freckles and vascular issues such as spider veins, port wine stains, leg telangiectasias.

How Does IPL Work?

IPL is a laser that uses a broad spectrum of light with customized wavelength range allowing for different applications and skin types. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions. By creating a thermal ‘injury’ to the skin, the body naturally works to remove the injured tissue therefore resulting in a correction of the skin imperfection. As the strongest and most effective IPL device on the market, the Lumecca by InMode, delivers high-peak performance over other similar devices.

What to Expect

Patients will see improvement after 1 Lumecca treatment, but will see best results following 2-3 treatments. Compared to other IPL devices, Lumecca’s cooling tip and ability to treat larger spot sizes as a fast rate allows for a more comfortable and quicker treatment. Patients can resume normal activities following an IPL treatment. When treating brown spots, patients can expect the spot to darken a few days following treatment and then ultimately slough off.
